We have nine routes which stop at over 780 bus stops in Montebello and surrounding communities. And our Montebello Express route is fast, limited stop rush-hour service that gets commuters to and from downtown Los Angeles.

Riding the Bus is Easy

  • Check the schedule for the time your bus is scheduled to leave. Pocket schedules are available from your driver, the Montebello Bus Lines business office, online, and other locations. Call (323)887-4600 for the location nearest you.

  • Go to the nearest bus stop at least 5 minutes before your bus is scheduled to leave.

  • Watch for your bus. The sign above the windshield will show the route number and where the bus is going.

  • Have your exact fare read to drop in the farebox as you board the bus. Drivers do not carry change.

  • If you need to take more than one bus to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer when you pay your fare.

  • When you are about a block from your destination, press the black bell strip above the windows to signal the driver you want to stop.

  • Please use the rear door to exit the bus.

Metrocard

You can now purchase a Metrocard and use it instead of cash to pay for your bus fare.  The Metrocard allows you to prepay your fare and the cost of your fare will be deducted from your balance.  You can also always check the balance of your card and add fare all from the farebox on the bus. Metrocard is available in Adult, Student, Disabled and Senior denominations. Fore more information on where to purchase the Metrocard or any questions concerning the Metrocard, call (323) 887-4600.

MTA Pass

Your travels on both Metro and Montebello buses just got easier. Your MTA bus pass may be used to pay your fare on all Montebello Bus Lines buses. Now you can use cash, Metrocard, or MTA pass.

Bike Racks

Montebello Bus Lines has brought together bikes and buses to make it a healthful, non-polluting and energy efficient way to travel where your local bus travels. You can bring your bike along for the ride on any bus and it's all for FREE! Just load your bike, pay your fare and enjoy the ride.

Many disabled persons can enjoy the convenience of our regular bus service, as our entire fleet is equipped with wheelchair lifts. And, Montebello Dial-A-Ride service gives a lift to senior citizens and disabled people who have difficulty using regular route buses. Trips are by reservation only, and riders must register for the service.  Call for more information.
